John Fullbright

John Fullbright was born on a farm outside Okemah, Oklahoma, which is also Woody Guthrie's town — a fact that has trailed him his entire career, fairly or not.

He started on piano at five and was playing folk festivals by high school, including the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival in his own backyard. He was a founding member of the Turnpike Troubadours and played alongside Mike McClure before going out under his own name.

His first studio album, From the Ground Up, was nominated for Best Americana Album at the 2013 Grammys, when he was twenty-four. He had taken the ASCAP Foundation's Harold Adamson Lyric Award the year before, and the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame's Rising Star award followed in 2014. Songs came out in 2014; after an eight-year silence, The Liar in 2022.
